Basically, if power is removed from the scale, it causes the Android to restart the POS application. 

 

During this process, the scale tries to re-initialize itself and in the process restarts the application.

According to the scale manufacturer (Brecknel) 

  1. make sure any power-saving feature is disabled in the scale. Call Manufacturer for steps
  2. Use a different another outlet on the surge protector, Such as the outlet has a black outline around it, and it might have some weird power saving configuration on that outlet, without knowing the make/model it's hard to tell.
