By default the SocketMobile Scanner is configured for APP mode. This mode does not work for the POS. It needs to be configured for HID (keyboard) mode to be able to scan and enter UPCs.

Scan the Factory Reset code in the attached sheet
Turn the scanner back on
Scan the Basic Mode (HID) code in the attached sheet

Go in to Android Bluetooth settings to find the Socket Scanner. It should have a picture of a keyboard as the icon which means it is in keyboard mode. Pair the scanner and scan a UPC with it.
